My New Personal Assistant
“Mom!” Kiera yelled from the living room.
Startled, I set the spoon down that I was using to stir the sauce in the pan and walked into the living room.
“What is it?” I asked, glancing around the room.
She pointed at the television. “You need to look at your insurance.”
I blinked a couple of times, trying to clear the thoughts of panic out of my head as she continued on.
“If you get into a wreck, then your premiums can go up. This insurance says they can help.” She stated.
“You don’t want your premiums to go up.” She finished her little sales pitch and turned back to the television.
“Huh… Umm… Ok. Thank you, baby.” I responded before heading back to the kitchen.
I know I shouldn’t be amazed anymore, but I am still in amazement of the things she picks up. Especially when it catches me off guard like that.
Monday night was another enlightening moment. We were driving home from dance class when suddenly she changed subjects and said, “Do you know what you need to do if you don’t want to get fat?”
“What?” I asked, readying myself for her response.
“You need to throw out all wheat.” She stated matter-of-factly.
“Really?” I responded, “Where did you hear that?”
“Oh, when I was at Aunt Patty’s today, she had a show on called ‘The Magic Pill’. It was one of the things they were talking about.” She explained nonchalantly.
I’m considering handing over all the bill payments, grocery shopping and menu planning to my 8 year old. Hmmm… I might be able to just hire her as my personal assistant.
