Hands Up!
There are things in life that you just never think you will have to say. Words that you might never, ever string together to form a sentence… For example, last night, I said a sentence to my husband, that I don’t think I had ever planned to say to him.
Leaving work, I called Aaron, to talk to him about what I needed to pick up from the grocery store. He had me on speakerphone so that I could talk to Kiera as well. And like any conversation, when I am on speakerphone, it turned a little chaotic.
“I’m going to run to the store and grab something for dinner.” I stated to Aaron as I turned my car onto the street.
“That sounds good. Do you know what you are going to get?” He asked.
“Hands up!” Kiera yelled at Aaron at the same time I responded, “I’m not really sure.”
I snickered as I heard Kiera yell at Aaron again. “I said, hands up!”
There was a shuffling against the phone and I am sure it was from Aaron trying to put his hands up.
“I can’t put both my hands up.” Aaron responded. “I’m on the phone.”
“You need to get off the phone.” Kiera stated in a warning tone. “Don’t make me use these handcuffs.”
“Give me just a second and let me finish talking to Mommy.” Aaron sarcastically pleaded.
I cleared my throat, drawing attention back to me.
“We’ve been playing cops.” Aaron explained.
Laughing, I said, “Ok. I will get something for dinner. Go get yourself arrested and I love you.”
“Love you too.” Aaron responded, hanging up the phone.
Yup. That is an actual sentence that I used. Never mind that it was all in fun. I actually told my husband to “GO GET YOURSELF ARRESTED.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at the absurdity.
After getting home and carrying the grocery bags in, I went in search of Aaron and Kiera to find out how the arrest went.
“I was arrested and placed in a pink cell and was told if I tried to escape I would stay there for the rest of my life.” Aaron stated.
“At this point, Kiera stepped out of the room as a guard and came back in as ‘Icee’, Aaron continued on with account. “Kiera/Icee was someone who was trying to tell me how to escape my cell.”
He laughed as he wrapped up his arrest story. “But before I was told how to escape, Kiera/Icee stopped to admire my Barbie decorations in my cell.”
Never a dull moment at my house, people. Never a dull moment.
