Blind Date

It’s the little moments that can make you laugh so hard.

A few nights ago, Aaron, Kiera and I were in the swimming pool. Ever since Kiera was small, she has always had us play some kind of game in the pool. Not normal pool games, like Marco Polo. We do even more fun games, like… dance or play action, otherwise known as charades…games like that.

This particular night she decided that she wanted to play the date game. This involves Aaron and I being customers in a restaurant and she is the hostess and waitress.

Ready?

Scene 1: Aaron swims up to Kiera who is stationed in the middle of the pool.

Kiera smiles and says, “Hello, sir. How can I help you today?”

“I’m here for a blind date.” Aaron replied.

“Well, ok.” Kiera replied with a shrug. “Follow me this way.”

She proceeds to swim to stage right… otherwise known as the side of the pool instead of the center.

“Here is your table. Enjoy.” She said, nodding her head and backing away.

Scene 2: I swim up to the center of the pool and wait to be greeted by the hostess.

Kiera met me at the imaginary hostess stand. “Good afternoon ma’am. Can I help you?” She asked.

“Yes.” I replied. “I am here for a blind date.”

I noticed Kiera gave me an odd look, but before I could process it, she motioned for me to follow her.

“Right this way, ma’am.” She said before paddling over to Aaron.

Scene 3: I glided into my seat… or knelt on my knees in the pool, pretending to be seated.

“Hi.” I stated, facing Aaron. “How are you today?”

Before Aaron could respond, Kiera said, “Here you go.” She hesitated for a moment and then continued in disbelief. “Well, apparently, you’re both blind.”

Remember what I said earlier? Well, this is one of those moments.

If… If I had been seated, I am pretty sure I might have fallen out of my chair laughing. Aaron and I laughed so hard and once we explained to Kiera what a blind date actually meant, we all laughed again.

We never did make it to Scene 4.
