Dallas, Houston, or Brownwood

Kiera is a proud supporter of our Brownwood Lions. She may not understand football, but she knows she wants the Lions to win.

Friday night, she and I had been helping at an event. As we climbed in the car to leave, I realized I had not heard anything on the Brownwood/Stephenville game. I flipped to KOXE to listen to the game and see if we could catch a score.

They were on a commercial break when I flipped over so we were unable to get the score.

As we started to leave the parking lot, I saw someone I needed to speak to and pulled my car up to where they were standing. I put the car in park and reached for the door handle.

“I’ll listen for the score.” Kiera said.

“That’s perfect.” I replied, stepping out of the car.

I was semi-curious if she would recognize the score when they talked about the game, but pushed my thoughts aside as I started talking to one of the event’s board members.

Several minutes later, I climbed back in the car. “What would you like to eat?” I asked Kiera.

We discussed different options for a few minutes and headed over to her restaurant pick. As we drove, we talked about the day and I flipped the radio station randomly looking for music.

Suddenly, I remembered my original plan. “Oh!” I exclaimed. “I wanted to hear the Brownwood score!”

Kiera sighed disgruntledly. “I tried to listen! But they started talking about Dallas and Houston.” She sighed again.

As she was grumbling, I flipped the radio back over to the Brownwood game… just in time to hear Dallas Huston say, “This is Dallas.”

From the passenger seat, Kiera huffed loudly. “SEE!”

It suddenly all made sense.

“Ummm…. That’s his name, baby. He is the one who is reporting on the Brownwood game.” I gently explained.

“Oh.” She responded. “Well, I didn’t know.” There was a moment’s pause before she continued on. “So, are we winning?”

I was proud to report that we were indeed winning.

Love our Brownwood Lions! Congratulations, Brownwood Lions, Coach Burnett, and the rest of the Lion crew on another win!
